Visitors! Part 1

Candice’s dad and sister (Ray and Cara) had been planning to come see Asher from the moment they found out we were expecting. We had thought we would have almost three weeks with Asher before they got here, but when the little guy was 12 days late, it turned out that he was only six days old when they arrived! This meant that we were especially chaotic and scattered during their visit; in the end, this worked out to be a good thing, since we were especially grateful for the help and company at such a crazy time. Here’s some highlights:

Of course, Asher loved hanging out with his Aunt Cara…

On Sunday, we got out of the house and went for a quick tour around Cambridge. We ate out for the first time since we had Asher; he slept basically the whole time and pretty much missed out on his first trip to a restaurant… he didn’t seem to mind.

On a separate note, it just so happened that the Open Championship (big British golf tournament) coincided quite nicely with the visit, so as a Father’s Day gift to Ray, we got tickets to go watch the tournament on Saturday. Ray and I drove down to Kent and spent the day at Royal St. George’s golf course watching the pros :). We watched Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler play most of their back nine, and spotted countless others as well. It was a fun day, despite me being a little sad to be away from Asher and Candice. We were decked out in our rain gear, since it was a brutally windy and rainy day. By the end of the day, though, the rain cleared off and the sun peeked through the clouds onto the 16th green, where we watched several pairs play through.

The trip went by much too quickly, and before we knew it, we were driving them to the airport. We were sad to see them go, but very happy that they were able to meet our sweet little guy.
